There are several system roles available in the LCMS. Additional Administrative, Development and Review/Approval type roles may be created as needed. System Roles cannot be edited or deleted.

The following table describes the system roles that are available in the LCMS:

User Type

Description

System Administrator

The System Administrator role has site-wide, unrestricted read and write permissions with the exception of the ability to read Review Inbox and Approval Inbox and the ability to generate the My Responsibilities report.

Manager

The Manager role has full (read, edit, delete) privileges for the Content Repository, Question Bank, Snippet Bank, Media Library, Glossary, Tag Manager, Content Packaging, Project Configuration, Project Preferences, User Role Assignment, Activity Development Phases (if enabled), Activity Parked Statuses, Review Type Responsibilities and TDM Course Manager (if enabled).

The Manager may also generate the following reports:Courseware Summary Report, Changes Required Report, Review Audit, Question Bank Report, Courseware Workflow Report, Detailed Project Metrics Report, Production Analysis, Media Distribution Report and Project Media Audit, and more.

They also have privileges for the following Miscellaneous Features: Screen Prompts, 3rd Party Content (SCO Search), Tag Search and Document Management.

Developer

The Developer role has full (read, edit, delete) privileges for the Content Repository (assigned activities only), Question Bank, Snippet Bank (if owner), Glossary.

The Developer role has read and edit privileges under the Media Library. They also have privileges for the following Miscellaneous Features: 3rd Party Content, Tag Search and Document Management

The Developer also has access the Course Summary Report. Only assigned activities return to them.

Senior Developer

The Senior Developer role has full (read, edit, delete) privileges for the Content Repository,Question Bank, Snippet Bank, Media Library, Glossary and Content Packaging.

The Senior Developer can generate the following reports: Courseware Summary Report, Changes Required Report, Review Audit, Question Bank Report, Courseware Workflow Report, Detailed Project Metrics Report, Production Analysis, Media Distribution Report and Project Media Audit.

They also have privileges for the following Miscellaneous Features: 3rd Party Content, Tag Search and Document Management.

Reviewer

The Reviewer role has no privileges except read permission for Document Management, Completed Reviews, Document Management and My Responsibilities.

The Reviewer role is used in the review process when an activity is submitted for review.

Review Manager

The Review Manager has no privileges except read permission for Document Management, Completed Reviews and Review Inbox.

Note: The availability of this role can be turned on or off in Application Preferences.

Review Monitor

Same as Review Manager. Note: The availability of this role can be turned on or off in Application Preferences.

Review Process Manager

The Review Process Manager has no privileges except read permission for all content and the ability to submit activities for review to an end client.

The Review Process Manager role is used in the review process to send activities with the Ready state to the end client for final approval. When the review is completed and returned by the end client, the Review Process Manager is able to review the end client comments.

When the developer unlocks the activity and changes the status to In Production, the Review Process Manager is able to insert comments to provide guidance to the developer on the disposition of the comments. By default, the Review Process Manager does not have the ability to delete the end client comments unless the feature is enabled in Project Preferences.

Approval Authority

The Approval Authority role has no privileges except read permission for Document Management, Approval Inbox, Completed Approvals and My Responsibilities.

Media Developer

The Media Developer role has full (read, edit, delete) privileges for the Media Library. They also have the privilege of unlocking media-related screens in the Activity.
